La grammatica
Thought: è il passato irregolare di to think che significa “pensare/credere”. In inglese, soprattutto negli USA, il verbo può essere sostituito da to guess, ovvero “indovinare”. Esiste anche un altro verbo, to believe, che però significa “credere” nel senso di “aver fiducia”.
We were laughing: “Noi stavamo ridendo”. Si tratta del simple past continous costruito con il passato di to be più il present participle/gerundio. È un tempo usato per indicare un’azione continuativa nel passato.
Attenzione: to laugh è un verbo regolare che significa “ridere”. Occhio alla pronuncia che è “laf”.
Ora completa il tempo in modo corretto:

Soluzione: I was laughing; You were laughing; He/she was laughing; We were laughing; They were laughing.
Somehow: è un avverbio costruito da some più how e significa “in qualche modo/per qualche motivo”. Simile è anche anyhow, che significa “in qualsiasi modo/in ogni caso”.

Completa le frasi scegliendo il verbo corretto tra think, believe e guess. Poi traducile.

La curiosità
Pieces - Piece significa “pezzo”. Attenzione: in caso di sostantivi che non possono formare il plurale (information, advice, luggage, equipment, forniture, news, ecc.) piece assume la funzione di indeterminativo e viene seguito da of. Es.: “Un consiglio” - A piece of advice; “Una notizia” - A piece of news. Ricorda si dice this is the news e non these are the news.
